After all the major changes that Instagram has made in the last couple of months. It turns out that Instagram has become more stringent about the number of API calls an account can make, which is why we highly recommend using scraper accounts to help keep your main accounts (the accounts you wish to grow) safe.
What is a scraper account?
In JARVEE’s context, scraper/slave accounts are any other available Instagram accounts that you delegate to process and perform the API calls on behalf of the main account. This results in the main accounts executing fewer API calls, making them safer and less prone to blocks and bans. If you don’t use scrapers, you’ll keep having a lot of problems with your main accounts getting blocks/verification requests/bans. It’s a good idea to use scrapers to prevent these issues on your main accounts.
The scrapers should be accounts that you’re not afraid of losing since they will just act as workers for your main accounts. Do not use important IG accounts as scrapers, and do not use accounts that you are growing. If you do not have other available accounts, you can create your own via the IG Create Accounts tool, or you can purchase some accounts.
I already have a list of scraped sources, do I still need scraper accounts in JARVEE?
Even if you already have a list of users/posts ready for use on the tools, JARVEE still needs to execute some API calls (like checking usernames f they still exist, looking at filters in settings, syncing, and more). Having the main account shoulder all these API calls can raise suspicion from IG’s end. Scraper accounts are a must to keep the main accounts safe.
What is this new type of scraping method?
The Tagname Scraping method gives you more control over managing API calls by assigning the scraper accounts with a tagname and entering that tagname under three global options in JARVEE to indicate that these are the accounts you want to use exclusively for performing the API calls. This also means that you can use these choices to lower the number of API requests made by your mother/main/master accounts, thereby lowering the possibility of receiving Instagram blocks and verification requests on the main account.
Where do I add the tagname?
You need to add the tagname to the scraper accounts via Social Profiles and on three options under SETTINGS > Social Platform > Instagram > General tab.
Social Profiles > account > Settings tab
Settings > Social Platform > Instagram > General tab
As previously mentioned, there are three options that you need to use here:
- The first is when you are using the IG Scrape Tools. It allows you to specify which accounts to use for any extractions you make using the Scrape tools.
For example, if you add a tag name of Tag1 on that box, then Jarvee will only utilize those accounts that have the tagname Tag1 to perform the Scrape Tools’ extractions. When this option is not checked, JARVEE will be able to use any available Valid account that is running on the API, so this option allows you to tell Jarvee which accounts to use when scraping using the Scrape Tools. - The second option lets you specify which accounts to use for Sync operations. When you use this option, JARVEE will only use the accounts that have the tagname you add to the option when performing a sync.
- The third option is useful when you want to specify which accounts to use when scrapping data from sources for the Instagram tools (eg. Like, Follow, Comment, etc.) you run on your main accounts.
📌 This is the main option you can use if you want to use the Tagname Accounts Scrape Method.
- Apply only on accounts with specific tagnames – If you want only main accounts with particular tagnames to use the scraper accounts, select this option and add the tagnames of your respective main accounts. Otherwise, all main accounts will use scrapers when using the tools if this box is left unchecked.
- Skip wait time between operations if scraper gets verification – this will automatically run the tool’s next operation (instead of waiting for the next run) if the scraper used gets verification.
- Use main account to scrape when there are no scrapers available – When no scrapers are available and this option is enabled, the main account will be used for scraping instead of getting error 550.
- Use scrapers only for specific tools – the scrapers will only be used for the tools you selected here. The other tools without the check mark will use the main account to scrape data.
Once this option is enabled, the following occurs:
When you add the sources to your main account and check the filters and everything, JARVEE will use the accounts that have the tag name you specified on the option above to scrape the data for any tool you start on your main account.
The scraping will all happen behind the scenes; the slave accounts will be used to extract the users and posts from the sources and the main accounts will only execute the actual action you want, which is to follow the user or to like/comment on a post, etc. Even though the scraping happens in the background, it’s displayed in the Dashboard > Summary tab what scraper was used for a particular operation.
On your scraper account, you should not add anything nor start any tool for this to work; you just need to make sure that it is valid and that it has the exact tag name that you specified on the option above.
📌An important note that you need to keep in mind, is that if you don’t have enough scrapers and there are a lot of main accounts, some of them won’t be able to run because there is no available scraper account that will process the API calls for them. Hence, you will get error code 550.
For this specific point, we highly recommend having at least 2–3 scrapers for each of your main accounts.
For instance, if you have 20 main accounts, then you should have at least 40-60 slave accounts (accounts that have the tagname you added on that option).
Additionally, if you want to apply this only on a specific set of accounts, then you can also do that by using the option below to make it exclusive to main accounts that have the tag names you specify there.
What about the Classic Scrape Method?
Originally, we had the ‘Slave to Main’ (or scrape to main) method which we refer to as the Classic Scrape Method. With that old scraping method, you add the targeted sources to a slave account and configure its Follow/Like tools to extract users/posts from those sources and send them to the Main account;

👉 Slave to Main method for Like and Comment Tools
Now you can use either the Classic Slave to Main method, in which you add the sources you target on the scraper/slave account and set its Follow/Like tools to extract users from those sources and send them automatically to the Main account.
OR you can use the Tagname Accounts Scrape Method where you add everything to your main account (sources and filters), and then JARVEE will automatically use the tagged accounts (accounts that have the tag name you specify on the option above) to extract the users/posts for the tools you run on your main account from the sources you added to them.
Unlike the classic method, if you decide to use the “tagname” option, you will add everything (sources, filters) on the main account instead of the slave/scraper accounts.
You can use any source option you want on the main account’s Sources tab, then on the Settings tab, check the filters that fit your needs.
On the other hand, the only thing that you need to do on your scraper/slave account is to make sure that it’s Valid on the SOCIAL PROFILE tab and to give it the tag name you specified for the accounts you want to use for scrapping.
📌Pointers:
✅ Make sure to copy/paste the tagname instead of typing it to avoid making any typos, which would prevent the account from participating.
✅ You need to make sure that the scraper account has the same tag name you added to the option.
