Instagram – How To Set Scrapers Using Tagname Accounts
After all the major changes that Instagram made in the last couple of months. It turns out that Instagram became more stringent about the number of API calls an account can make, that is why we highly recommend using the ‘Slave to Main’ (or scrape to main) method which we refer to as the Classic Scrape Method.
You may visit the links below for more details.

What is the second type of scraping method?
The developers added three global options that should help you specify which accounts to use for a specific task, which means you will have more control now above what’s going on when it comes to making API calls, which also means that you can take advantage of these option to make your Main accounts make fewer API calls, hence fewer chances of getting blocked on your Main accounts.
The TagName Accounts Scrape Method:
To locate these three options we are referring to, please go to SETTINGS > Social Platform > Instagram Tab, then see the screenshot below to know the options we are referring to:
- The first one is related to Scrape Tools. It allows you to specify which accounts to use for any extractions you make using the Scrape tools.
For example, if you add a tag name of Tag1 on that box, then Jarvee will only utilize those accounts that have the tagname Tag1 to do the extractions you run on the Scrape tools.
When this option is not checked, Jarvee will be able to use any available Valid account that is running on the API, so this option allows you to tell Jarvee which accounts to use when scrapping using the Scrape tools.
- The second option allows you to specify which accounts to use to do Sync operations. When you use this option, Jarvee then when syncing will only use the accounts that have the tag name you add to the option.
- The third option is useful when you want to specify which accounts to use when scrapping data from sources for the tools you run on your Main accounts.
📌 This is the option that you can use if you want to use the Tagname Accounts Scrape Method.
Now you can either use the Classic Slave to Main method, in which you add the sources you target on the Slave account and you set its Follow/Like tools to extract users from those sources and send them automatically to the Main account.
Or you can use the Tagname Accounts Scrape Method where you add everything to your Main account (sources and filters) and then Jarvee will automatically use the tagged accounts (accounts that have the tag name you specify on the option above) to extract the users/posts for the tools you run on your Main account from the sources you added on them.
Unlike the classic method, if you decide to use the “tagname” option, you will add everything (sources, filters) on the Main account instead of the Slave/Scraper accounts.
You can use any source option you want on the Main sources tab, then on the Settings tab, check the filters that fit your needs.
On the other hand, the only thing that you need to do on your Scraper/Slave account is to make sure that it’s Valid on the SOCIAL PROFILE tab and to give it the tag name you specified for the accounts you want to use for scrapping.
📌Pointers:
✅ Make sure to copy/paste it instead of typing it to avoid making any typo, which would prevent the account from participating.
✅ You need to make sure that the account has the same tag name you added on the option.
What happens when you enable this option is:
When you add the sources to your Main account and check the filters and everything, Jarvee will use the accounts that have the tag name you specified on the option above, to scrape the data for any tool you start on your Main account.
That will all happen behind the scene, the slave accounts will be used to extract the users and posts from the sources and the Main accounts will only execute the actual action you want, which is to follow the user or to like/comment a post, etc.
On your Scraper account, you should not add anything nor start any tool for this to work, you just need to make sure that it is valid and that it has the exact tag name that you specified on the option above.
📌An important note that you need to keep in mind, is that if you don’t have enough scrapers and a lot of Main accounts, some of them won’t be able to run because there is no available Scraper account that will extract the data for them. Hence you will get the error code 550.
For this specific point, we highly recommend having at least 1/3 of your Main accounts set up as Scrapers.
For instance, if you have 90 Main accounts, then you should have at least 30 Slave accounts (accounts that have the tag name you added on that option).
Additionally, if you want to apply this only on a specific set of accounts, then you can also do that by using the option below to make it exclusive for Main accounts that have the tag names you specify there.
